Skirt
2012
Steel, concrete

12" W x 12" D x 32" H

The sport of steeple-chasing began as an overland horse race from one church spire to another. Linked to the 'sport' of skirt-chasing, I structured Skirt as a tantalizing temptation; onerous, dangerous and wisely avoided.

Tartan school uniforms appeared every spring, and were viewed from my worktable at the Stratford Festival. This flirty Skirt is pleated, it's a bit too short and tops a pair of girlish legs. These feminine aspects are over ruled by a sharp, threatening structure.
