Abraham Gesner (May 2, 1797 - April 29, 1864) was a Canadian physician, geologist, author, inventor, and a passionate advocate for the Mi'kmaq. Considered the "Father of the Petroleum industry", Gesner's invention of kerosene curtailed the whaling industry and disrupted technology worldwide.
