Dr. Apple was a pleasure to sculpt. He was a very lean fellow in a large and shapeless lab coat. People who knew Charles Eaves smiled every time his name was mentioned and I was pleased to have caught the characteristic twinkle in his eye. This portrait stands in Eaves Hollow, across the street from The Research Centre, where Charles created North America's first atmospherically controlled fruit storage. Exposed to high levels of C02, produce has extended shelf-life.
